Spencer Braithwaite, the founder of The Spollyworld Experience was born on March 11, 1992. Braithwaite, originally from Brighton, Massachusetts has lived in many cities in the Boston area such as Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan. As a young boy growing up in a housing development with limited resources or outlets, Braithwaite aka Spollywood realized that the odds were stacked against him at a very early age. Living in a hostile environment where individual survival was an everyday struggle, Spencer decided to pick up a basketball, use his imagination and dream big. Spencer knew that the game could  not only be a tool to help create a brighter future for himself but also for his family. One of the key learning moments in Spencer’s young life was understanding that everything he wanted in life would have to be earned and that nothing would be given. Spencer also learned that outworking his peers and “going the extra mile” would produce special results!

 

Spencer’s road to success wasn’t always smooth, but no matter how difficult the times were;
he was willing to keep pushing and maintaining his focus on the bigger picture. After receiving accolade after accolade at Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Boston, MA, Spencer went on to play basketball for one year at Div.II Junior College Massasoit Community College. Spencer’s play and work in the classroom at Massasoit earned him numerous Division I and Division II scholarship offers to continue to play the game he loves. Spencer ultimately chose to accept a full athletic scholarship to Division II American International College (AIC) in Springfield, MA. Upon matriculation as a sophomore Spencer became the starting Point Guard immediately and maintained his starting position for all 3 years he attended AIC. Spencer graduated from American International College in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications.

 

The SpollyWorld experience is what I have developed over the past 20 years through not only my life experiences, but through the game of basketball. My experiences combined with what I have learned from numerous coaches, teachers and mentors have empowered me to teach others how to excel not only through the physical aspects of the game, but most importantly the mental aspects. Ultimately, my desire is to lead, inspire, motivate, grow, develop, give back and help others!
